      Overview

      Prof. Lu Anxian graduated from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Wuhan Institute of Building Materials in 1982.He started to work from 1982 to 1988 for Chengzhou glass factory in Hunan Province,firstly as an assistant engineer and then an engineer.He got his Master degree from Northwest Institute of Light Industry of China in 1991.He completed the learn plan of all courses for the doctoral graduates majoring in inorganic non-metallic materials and partial researches for the doctoral dissertation from 1991 to 1993 in College of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University. After that, Lu Anxian joined the School of Materials Science and Engineering in Central South University as a teacher, starting his teaching career and continuing his doctoral dissertation work, finally he got his Doctor Degree from School of Materials Science and Engineering,Wuhan University of Technology in 1996.

      In his field, Prof. Lu Anxian has originated the professional direction of glass amorphous science, functional glass materials and ceramics in the School of Materials Science and Engineering in Central South University.He proposed a new approach on how to prepare bulk metallic glasses with big 3D size,founded the short-range ordering theory of glass structure and developed many kinds of new materials in glass,glass-ceramics and ceramics.He has been in charge of six projects and participated in one key project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, in addition to as the leader of another six projects from national new material plans and more than 10 provincial research projects.As the first or corresponding author, he has published over 190 papers among which 94 papers were enlisted in SCI and 122 papers were enlisted in EI. He has won three Provincial Award and 18 patents. Also he has published a scientific literary work named as New Functional Glass Materials, four different versions of the textbook named as Introduction to Inorganic non- Metallic Materials and another one textbook named as Science Foundation of Inorganic Materials.Also he is one of the authors of the other two books named as New Glass Technology and Handbook of Glass Property and Technology respectively.During his teaching career as a master instructor and doctoral supervisor, he has supervised 81 graduate students, among whom 14doctoral students got their doctor degree and 50 graduate students got their master degree.Besides his work in Central South University, Prof. Lu Anxian was the member of Teaching Steering Committee in the inorganic non-metallic materials of China and is also one of the standing directors of the National Materials New Technology Development Research Institute.

      Research interests and directions

      Prof. Lu Anxian has widely ranging interests in glass,glass-ceramics,ceramic materials and green building materials,including two main research directions:One is the non-crystal science and new functional glass materials.The other is glass-ceramics and ceramic materials.
